Pain After Surgery

Hi everyone, my name is Ashley and I am 22 years old. In 2003, when I was 13, I was suddenly diagnosed with scoliosis (thoracic curve 52 degrees and a lumbar curve of 70). I immediately got surgery and my spine is now fused with the rods in my back. While I experience pain on a daily basis, it is usually temporary or mild. Lately, however, the left side of my lower back/upper leg has been feeling very stiff. The range of motion in my left leg is more limited due to the pain of trying to extend my leg. It almost feels as if my rod is scraping up against a bone when I move my leg out to the side or behind me(I know this probably isn't the case, but that's what it feels like). I plan on seeing a doctor, but was just wondering if anyone has experienced similar symptoms?

Thanks =]

A-t 13, I had scoliosis

A-t 13, I had scoliosis surgery. My fusion goes from T5-L1.

I also had a second fusion in the fall of 2009. This one is L4-S1.

I have not experienced symptoms like you describe. Since you feel your range of motion is limited, my layman's opionion is that yout problem may be muscular related. This is just an opinion.

Since you say it feels like your rod is scraping against a bone, it might not be a bad idea to have an x-ray or MRI of your spine and make sure your rod is stil where it should be.
