Scoli + A Pinched Nerve

Hi,

I am 35 yrs old and I was diagnosed with scoli in kindergarden, but I was always very active & my scoli didn't cause me any pain or discomfort. After 2 kids and moderate weight gain I have been dealing with lower back pain for about 10 yrs now Sad In the past couple of months I went back to the specialist and found out that I have a pinched nerve at L5-S1. I have radiating pain and numbness down my right leg and the Dr has suggested a lumbar epidural steroid injection around the pinched nerve. I am very nervous about having a needle put into my spin especially since I toughed out both of my childbirth labors with out an epidural because I was scared of having more back problems... Has anyone had this injection? Is it painful? What were the results? I would really appreciate some feedback since my injection is scheduled for this coming Monday...

I have a 25 degree levoscoliosis measured between T11-12 and L2-3 and a 35 degree dextroscoliosis measured between L2-3 and L5-S1... I also have mild right foraminal stenosis at L1-2 and a central annular tear and shallow protusion at L2-3. At least this is what the results say on the paper I received from my most recent MRI... The problem is that I don't understand what most of this means, aside from the degree of the curves, of course... If there is anyone that can shed some light on this for me I would appreciate it!!!

Thank you in advance for any info or advice you might afford me...
