hey guys. im amy, and on the 8th July 2011, i had corrective spinal surgery by mr khai lam.
i had a serious curvature of the spine that needed to be corrected asap. however, of course there will always be someone who is worse off, so i had to wait. two years later, there was an opening for the 26th july, but my surgeon emailed me personally, telling me that he had an opening on the 8th. myself and my parents discussed it and knew it would be the right thing to do.
on the big day at the evelina childrens hospital in westminster, i was given a tamazapan (correct spelling?) which was a muscle relaxant to prevent anxiety. the moment i was given it, i couldnt stop giggling, and i was taken to theatre at around 12 o'clock. i was put to sleep and that was it, no more curve!
5 and a half hours later, woke up and had a full blown chat with my parents in intensive care! i was just happy it was finished!i kept asking: "is it done"
i would totally recommend surgery, regardless of age! if you can, get in contact with mr khai lam, guys hospital! hes awesome! THANKS MR LAM!
Hi Amy,
How old are you and how was your recovery? What type of surgery did you have? I've been wanting to correct my scoliosis but just a little scared to. Hope you can give me more details, I feel like I'm the only one who has this condition. Thanks
