pain after fusion surgery

AnonymousUserAAnonymousUser Posts: 49,900
Hello, I am new to the board. my background is I had l-5 s-1 fusion on 11-01-07, emg before which showed radicular pain in both legs. 10 mos out I am in more pain than before surgery. surgery was for spondylothesis and DDS. ct scan after surgery showed a 1 cm ovoid lucency immediately adjacent to the inferior end plate. If any could shed some light to that or has similar problems let me know. thanks Mark

  • Hello,
I had fusion surgery on L5 S1 in December of last year.
I still have back pain but now have terrible nerve pain in both legs. I went to the surgeon last week for check up. The x ray showed some slight fusion starting. He is doing a CT scan next week to see if anything else is going on with my back. Other than that nothing else is happening. He said the nerve pain might be perm. :??

    L.
  • Maybe this ovoid lucency is fusion occuring, as I believe lucency is what they are looking for to confirm fusion.???
Nope, just looked up lucency, it means clear, so could this mean there is an area without fusion? Had you successfully fused after your surgery? I have been wondering if it is possible to start fusing and then for the fusion to reverse and start degrading (something like the osteoclasts out preform the osteoblasts?)??
