I have a congenital condition called klippel feil syndrome, basically it is fusion of the cervical spine. I do have two openings c1 and c2 and c4- c5, now i am at risk for becoming paralyzed second to instability. At this point i do have left sided weakness and of course pain in the neck and across the shoulders. The surgeon feels that i need acdf of c4 and c5 with possible posterior plate placement. I have ddd, bulging disc into the epidural space, spondylitis and osteoarthritis. I am trying to reach out to others with the same or similar congenital problem.
thanks

  • I also have Kippel feil. I only have one fused disk at c5-6.I also have bulging disks and osteophytes throughout my spine. I recently had a Posterior cervical foraminotomy at c7-t1. I also have ossification of the posterior longitudial ligament. My NS had a hard time counting the disks to make sure he was operating in the correct area. He ended up making my incision larger so he could see. I will get back to you later when I have more time.
