Happy Thanks giving everyone. I hope you had a wonderful day and have stuffed bellies. I have my SSD Dr evaluation tomorrow morning at 8am. From everything Ive read, its a very short visit. 5-10 min at the most. Just one more step for me in the whole process. My husband is going with me.

  • All went well today. The Dr was so sweet. I was prepared for some grumpy old Dr who was "forced" to do the eval. Well, the office was located in a very run down part of the suburbs here. The office its self was old, dirty and the gates up in the from window, spray paint all over the front of the office. There was no one in sight at 8am. Then we saw a little indian man in a suit walk by and saif this myst be him. Well, he couldnt have been sweeter. He did the exam and was holding my hand as he knew I was in alot of pain and was nervous. He said I do not make any decisions on this, I just do the eval and send the info. The exam took about 15 min. When he was done He closed the file and turned to me and said ok, the eval is over how is your pain today. I said about an 8. I am having a very bad day today. He gave me some YOGA poses and "tricks" for pain relief. I was so grateful. He said if I am denied, to appeal as he thinks I deserve it. He told me not to let this process get me down. He said I would get it if I am persistent.

try your application, which they'll deny. Then appeal which you probably not win. Then on the third try get a attorney that specialises in SSDI cases. If he takes your case, you'll get your award plus back pay.
    Good luck, Jim

You get what you get, not what you deserve......I stole that from Susan (rip)
Today is yours to embrace........ for tomorrow, who knows what might be starring you in the face!
  • How long after the Dr evaluation did you find out if you got it or were denied? I hope it is soon either way ( Im sure Ill be denied) just so I can get this appeal going. I know I canot work much longer. Its killing me. Everyday is getting harder and harder. Im trying to keep my chin up but come Sunday night, Im shaking because Im so nervous I wont be able to get out of bed.
  • I applied August 13th 2008 and just got my letter saying there is no proof my disability will last 12 months or more. So, here I go start the appeal process.
    I wish you luck

  • Hey Hon - I'm glad your evaluation went well. Your doc was correct - they just send in the report. He can recommend all day long until the cows come in, but ultimately, it's up to the disability examiner to decide. But, the examiner will use all of your medical records and your statements to decide.

By law, this doctor has 30 days to send in his report. Most times, they send it in sooner; the sooner they send the report, the sooner they get paid. So, if I were you, I'd not expect to hear anything for at least 30 days.

I want to wish you luck in your quest. If you have any questions, you know how to reach me!

    Have a great day everyone!
