Had my surgery

Hi all,
I had my 360 double spinal fusion on December 29th at 7:30am
After 9 1/2 hours of surgery, was put into the recovery room. Barely remember much of the next few days, other than how awful I felt and throwing up because of the morphine. Was switched to vicodine because I can't tolorate much of anything else. Got home on Thursday night after my oxgyen stats went up enough to make the staff happy. The biggest trouble that I currently face is the countdown to when I can take the next dose of pain meds and not being able to sleep. My family has been a huge help especially in washing all of those private parts, which one has trouble reaching with a total of 65 staples in the front and the back.
I keep hoping that the pain that i feel in my right foot and lower back is healing pains, but I guess time will tell.
My first follow up is next week, when I get the staples out as well. Good luck to all and may we all be pain free soon.

  • I had my two level fusion only all posterior on Dec 11. Had alot of pain and it took a couple days to handle mine casue of all the strong narcotics I have been on for 2 years. But just try to keep comfortable and do what your Dr says, and it will get better. I still know when it is time to take pain meds 45 min ahead of time, but it does get bearable. My surgery was just shy of 8 hours and it takes alot out of you, will be thinking of you and hoping things are going well, :H
