Hi to all, I am new here and was searching on the web for more info on a condition I have when I came across this site. On Aug 25th of 08, I was working when I felt a sharp pop,in my lower back. I was not sent to a doctor for almost 12 hours after reporting this to the company. X-rays were taken, then was referred to a Neuro-surgeon by company work comp adjuster. Neuro-surgeon requested an MRI. After reviewing the MRI, he stated it was a surgical procedure however, due to this being work comp, I was then referred to a pain management m.d. for epidural injections. This doctor echoed the neurosurgeons opinion with one exception, in the x-rays, he noticed what he says is a bi lateral pars defect. He stated that this condition is a hereditary condition and may have a small part to play in my injury.

My questions to whomever can answer are these.
1. Is this condition hereditary or is this doctor pandering to work comp?
2. Can this "pars defect" be what caused the bulging disk that I have and needs surgery?
Thanks in advance
