  • I just had that surgery 9/25/08 & it has been very hard for me. I do not tolerate any meds at all & we have been having a hard time trying to find something that works for pain control without too many side effects. I spent 6 days in the hospital & the first two weeks after release was just horrible. My situation is unique as like I said I do not tolerate any meds. I am just now starting to feel some pain relief in my back but my left lower foot is just like before surgery. I am doing PT 3 x week. I am on methadone & neurontin at this time. I am also taking norco for breakthrough pain. Get several opinions before you decide. Remember even after surgery you may not be any better. Good luck & best wishes to you & all of us suffering form pain.

Norm May we all become painfree!!
  • I just went to a new PM doc closer to my home today and happened to meet a guy in his low 30s there that has had 2 fusions. He told me that his movement is very limited and it was not worth having the surgery. Keep in mind that everyone is different and responds very differently to surgery. I am just curious though, is this surgeon telling you to lose the weight before surgery? (I am also overweight and can very much relate to your struggle).
