has anyone have severe pain across buttocks? I had fusion may 07 L3 L4 L5 S1 with facet joints removed, cysts. I hurt so bad pain radiates down right leg or the left (weird) I am on strong (nar) now its been 2 years?

  • I had an L3-S1 fusion with the plates and rods and the bone graft taken from my hip. It's been just over 1 year and I still have to take pain medication and muscle relaxers. I understand your pain across the hips / butt area. I have it too. Sometimes it radiates down thru my groin areas on both sides. I mostly have such horrible muscle spasms in my back to where I can't stand. I'm only on Tyl 3 and Flexoril. I take 2-3 Tyl3 and 2 Flexoril. At times I feel no better than when I first started all this. I tried injections, PT and eventually was told I HAD to have this surgery. Mt right leg was numb from the start and I thought it would get better but it hasen;t and my right foot is also numb. I wish I had some answers. I want to get on with my life pain -free or at least some way. I've just asked my doctor for a stronger pain medication or muscle relaxer and NOW he want to see me. I would never have back sugery again. I've never been in so much pain in my life. I can't even talk about that pain. But I do feel your pain as I have the same. I'm hoping that I will get some help when I see my doctor. I'm out of options.
  • I had my fusion in March 07, I woke up unable to feel my legs. Since then I have numbness down both legs, with pain radiating from my back down both legs. Don't ask me how somthing can be numb and hurt, it's just weird. Anyway, I'm on percicets 5/325, and neurotin 2700mg a day since my surgery. I use to take pure oxy, and thinking of talking to my doc about going back on it. But trying not to since it messes with my brain so much. So to answer you question, no it's not wierd to hurt that bad 2 years out. Heaven knows I do.
  • i had a bilateral discectomy at S1 and a redo of L4/L5 laminectomy.and i have just found out that i have facet joint hypertrophy and 2 more small bulging disc! so i know how you feel.my next option is a fusion or leave it ...it think that i will leave it ..as every surgery that i have had has made me worse and weaker ..so no more thanks
