December 8, 2008 I had ACDF C5-6 and C6-7 with hardware. Also removed bone spurs pressing the spinal cord in two places. Anyone know approximately how long it takes the spinal cord to return to normal size after removal of bone spurs?
MRI from three years ago confirmed a swollen spinal cord. Neuro told me I could not afford a minor accident for fear of spinal cord injury. However he neglected to tell me why it was swollen. Told me if I was his wife he would not do surgery. Told me to go home and do nothing that aggitates the neck and it would heal. It would take a long time. So for three years I have experienced severe pain in my neck, head (lots of headaches) hips, butt, groin and legs. Finally the pain was so bad I decided to have an MRI and see a different doctor. Wished I would have met doctor number two...three years ago. He would have fixed me. I still experience the pain in my hips, butt, groin and legs. I am taking pamelor for the nerve pain. The pain has been tolerable until I started walking 1-2 miles a day and now the pain is back...hard to sleep.
