double crush nerve entrapment syndrome

Does anyone know much about this syndrome or have it. I recently had an emg showing carpal tunnel but have severe neck, shoulder, and arm pain. My mri showed severe foraminal stenosis left C5-6, moderate C6-7 left, and moderate c5-6,6-7 right .Also, mild broad based disc protrusions at C4-5,5-6, and 6-7, uncinate hypertrophy at all 3 levels and mild thecal sac indentations at all 3 levels. I also have tingling in fingers, numbness.

Could this be double crush syndrome ? My OS says that emg says my neck is not the source. But I am skeptical about the carpal tunnel theory especially with the amouht of neck and shoulder pain I experience and a history of herniated discs over the years. Any thoughts?

  • Hi Andrea,
I don't know the exact answer to your question. But I have a messed up neck and have had carpal tunnel surgery which helped some of my symptoms in my hand like tingling. However, it did not fix all of the weakness and other pain. A few years later the ACDF C5-6 was done and unfortunately, I was told I waited too long and now have permanent nerve damage. So if I were you, I'd go talk to another doctor and get a second opinion soon.
    Take care,
