Well first, im glad I found a site where I can learn more about whats going on with me and others.

I am 23, I found out Friday the last three discs in my spine are herniated, all in a different fashion. I also have disc disease on one. Just started PT today and the therapist was surprised I had all this going on and I am only 23. Sad to say that there was no one big injury that caused this.. I just was working one day at a networking event, stepped away and could noo longer stand up straight. I already miss my heels =(

Anyway, just thought I would make the introduction before I get to posting. Thanks =)

  • Forgot to mention the actual terms and such for what I have:

L5-S1 disk herniation and disc disease with mild lateral recess enchroachment
L4-5 disc herniation and protrusion with mild central encroachment
L3-4 disc herniation and annular tear with mild acquired stenosis
Bilateral facet arthropathy at the L3-4 through the L5-S1 levels.

SOunds horrible, but I was always told that medical lingo makes it sound worse than it is =/ If anyone can decode that for me other than "three herniated discs" I would appreciate it. lol
  • hi and welcome to the forum! :H we are here to offer you support and answer what questions we can. so glad you decided to stop by. =D> i cannot help you with your report but your doctor is really the best person for that.. :-C take care and stop by anytime. :D Jenny :)
  • I am so sorry to see yet another young person here suffering with what would seem to happen to people only with age. I also have facet arthropathy which is arthritis of the facet joints. I am twice your age but can tell you that it seems to progressively get worse and is very painful. I have a very hard time getting out of bed in the morning as straightening up from sitting or laying down is quite painful. If I overdo with too much movement (such as walking) I do get spasms. Hopefully yours is still mild and will not cause too many problems yet. Good luck and please keep us posted.
PS- I also have multiple annular tears. That is a tear in the annulus (outer portion of disc) painful for some and not for others.
