I haven't posted in a while and have my major 360 revision of my L4,L5,S1 on Aug 5th. Scared as hell but this info I need is for my Mom who is lying in a hospital bed right now in tremendous pain and getting inadequate care at this time. She had spinal stenosis and had just a Laminectomy ? She is diabetic which complicates things wright from the get go.
The nurses during the day shift are slacking on gett her meds and morphine shot. Since they are making her wait for an hour to an hour and a half past due, the regular meds can't catch up to the pain level. As all of us who have had back surgery know, you have to be ahead of the pain onset.
Once the pain gets out of control, it takes alot more meds to get it under control again.
I remember someone on this sight about a year ago had the same problem and once she called or threatened to call a certain number, the nurses changed their attitudes and actually started to care for this person.
While I feel like going down there and causing all kinds of h%ll, I need to know that number or who it went too. I just got off the phone with my sister who is staying with her and she said she's getting wore out.
Also, my mom can't feel her right leg and it's ice cold. The nurses just keep saying this is normal and once the swelling goes down, she should regain feeling. She, rightfully so, is crying and freaking out that her leg is dead. Being diabetic, her feet and eyes are always a concern.
Sorry for the long post but someone please help us out with this number and who it goes too. It almost seems like it's right on the phone itself and is some kind of patient advocate?
Any ideas are greatly appreciated. Hope this shitty post finds you all in good health. Ron
