Hello group! I've already posted a couple of times, and I realize now that I haven't introduced myself.
I have near 100% spondy at L5/S1 with severe bilateral nerve impingement. The majority of my symptoms, other than back pain at the slip site, are on my right side.
I was diagnosed with grade III spondy about 16 years ago, and I went on to have three children without any major problems. My back didn't cause me any serious, life changing concern/pain until about 3 - 4 years ago.
The doctors I have seen in recent years have basically told me the same thing - surgery is a gamble with the grade of slip that I have. The Gaines method would be used. I do, apparently, have some self fusion of the bone, so I don't *think* they are going anywhere further - but who knows? For the time being I monitor with MRI once a year, and just try to manage.
I've already read many threads, and I look forward to reading many more.
