Hi My Spiney friends,
It is tweetybird, Had my surgery and I have good news and bad news, The good news is the surgery is over, the bad news is,They couldnt use any screws or plates to do the fusion and it may not hold, Bones are to small and if they put screws in there is a chance it would break the bones and that would be a whole nother operation, I hope to be coming home monday, but the prognosisis not good for work any more, I will not be able to go back, to many things could go wrong and the doctors will not sign the papers for my return to work, have to wear the brace for a longer time because all he could do was just place them where they were, nothing to hold them in place and so it might be a failed fusion,Although I am not sorry that I tried,I hope to be out of here Monday or Tuesday, long way to go. Thanks for all the prayers as It is truly what has held me together. Love to all. Linda

  • try to keep your spirits up. know that we here at sh are thinking of you. maybe youll get lucky and have a natural fusion. drs say it can be better than the nuts and bolts job. keep us posted and i hope you can get some sleep.....
  • I'm glad to hear from you and I'm sorry you weren't able to have the screws put in. There must be something else your surgeon can do for you. Don't worry, I know they will come up with an alternative. Right now you need to rest and heal up. BTW, how's that hospital food? I was konked out most of the time when I had my fusion due to my wonderful PCA machine. I didn't get to enjoy the cable or premium movie channels either. I hope you're being kept comfortable. Please keep us updated on your progress and also what your surgeon plans on doing. Take care sweetie >:D<
