Negative SLR but cracking in leg

AnonymousUserAAnonymousUser Posts: 49,622
Hi folks,

My therapist performed a straight leg raise on me today and it was negative after several months. However, I am getting cracking kind of noise all over my leg (mostly back of the thigh) on and off. I dont really understand what that could mean. Has anyone experienced anything like that? Could it be because the nerve was pinched for so long that the muscles in the leg are also weakened and hence they are cracking?

  • My guess, and, that's all it is, would be that tendons are stiff from not being stretched for a period of time due to the nerve problem. As you become more mobile and are able to stretch more, the tendons will gradually regain their ability to stretch without protesting.

As far as I am aware, muscles do not make noise. It is usually at the point of attachment or when a tendon is sliding over something else that you get a popping sound.

Is there pain when it happens?
  • Thank you Gwennie, there is not much pain but the continuos cracking over the period of the day causes discomfort in the leg. I also think I am mentally thinking of the pain every second which is not helping
