Does anyone have a fracture of the T12? How long does it take to heal? I did mine on November 19, and I'm still in allot of pain even with 5 mg Lortab. I am suppose to be fitted for a brace this week. What works for you for pain?

  • Hi Mindy.
When I was 19, I compressed my T11,,T12 & L1. They used hardware and for what was damaged, I am lucky. But to your question. I still have issues with mine. What has happened to me is that with the fusion, those vertebra don't move. So the disc above and below the fusion are now caring the load that would other wise be divided between. So some day I will have issues there. But I do have good mobility giving the circumstance. Also, I don't take pain meds,I deal with it through a pain management Doctor.

I wish You well with yours.
  • Hi Mindy:
I have three compression fractures; T11, T12 and L1. I didn't get fitted for a brace, and my physician at the time did not recommend one because he said it was a stable fracture. Going the route of a brace is the more accepted medical therapy. After that, many physicians prescribe pt. Judging from your post, you are a young lady compared to me. You should do fine. And hopefully not have any residual pain. I wish you the best of luck.
