Hi friend,
It has been awhile since I have been on the posts.

I had a very strange thing happen at 3:35am this morning. I struggle every day with TOS and a herniated disk at the T3 T4 level, and a small bulged disc at the top of my neck.. I have had three neck surgeries and two lumbar spine surgeries, So daily I struggle with pain. I normally have a hard time cause it seems like none of my pillows work my neck hurts if I have a lower pillow, and it hurts if the pillow is to high, you just can not win. I even own an orthopedic pillow and still ugh pain! :''(

Well I woke this morning with a migraine headache and both my arms were dead like no life in them I could not feel them.I kind of freaked out going what the heck! :O I had to get my body up to swing my arms back to life.

I moved to another state and the medical here sucks. I have to drive an hour away to see a specialist and they have mot called me yet.I call them and get a stupid machine.I AM VERY FRUSTRATED AT THE MEDICAL TREATMENT OUT THERE.It takes forever to get into see these so called specialist and if you are on medicare well hello that is the problem!

Some people asked me why did I move if I had a doctor back home. Well my Surgeon retired last April and had to start with a new doc anyway. Plus moving was for my best interest financially but I am even wondering if that was a good idea. :(

Anyway any of you experience this where you loose feeling in your arms and hands completely? I deal with headaches on a daily bases but that head this morning was horrific.

Thanks friends.

may happen from time to time depending on your medical situation. Its still not normal and needs to be looked out.
I can understand that sometimes moves are done for financial reasons and in today's economy, that seems to happen a lot.
Its probably too late now, but you should have got a list of doctors on your new location from your old doctor. Almost any doctor and/or medical institute will help you find appropriate doctors/hospitals in the new area. Even if you didnt do this before you left, you can still contact those places for recommendation.
I also believe that many people when they first move to another state feel that the medical support is not up to par. About 99% of the time, its just a question of understanding any different laws in that state, but as I mentioned before, its getting setup with the correct new people

  • I am to see a Vascular surgeon in Eugene but they have not set up an appointment yet and I have been waiting a week and a half. I called today but they were out of the office trust me they are slow here.I moved here in October and well this is December and nothing yet. My surgeon retied in April of last year. So the referal part did not happen because his retirement was sudden.I can not even find my files from him. I have no idea where my records are.I am trying to find them when I tried t get them they said they could not give them to me and that they were going to be filed at a certain doc's office but nope not there either so I am one upset women.
  • I am from Eugene Ore (originally). Is that the same Eugene? My sister has been to a nice clinic in town and a co-worker has a great surgeon in the same clinic.

I have woke up with both my arms completely asleep a few times my self. Sometimes I just wake with one asleep/dead etc. I used to freak out but now my hands frequently feel dead while I am awake. I don't see my NS until January, but I did tell his RN and she didn't seem worried at all. The feeling comes back after a little while. The last time I saw my NS was in October. I don't think it is just Eugene- the surgeons always seem to be in high demand. At my clinic they make appts several weeks in advance. I have had this appt for 6 weeks already.

    Good luck,

  • There have been many stories about the shortage of doctors in general. A few years back they noticed that not as many people were going into careers in practicing medicine. The school costs too much, takes too long and the cost of insurance and offices is outrageous.

I tried to get my 12 year old an appt with a neurologist. First appointment is in mid-January. ANother was the end of February. I was going to go to the ER but her pediatrician agreed to order an MRI so we can see if that shows anything. At least it will save some time and should help to rule out anything terrible.

I have a feeling that the US will be like England and Canada in the next decade where you wait months for an appointment. They come here for treatment - where are we supposed to go??
