I just wanted to introduce myself as I am new. I am a male, age 37, new to the chronic pain, back pain circles on here. I suffered from my back "going out" for several years(age 23 to present). The first time I injured it was playing baseball in College. Made a wrong twist catching a fly ball in center field and WAM! It felt like an electrocution. Of coarse the team doctor took Xrays and said nothing was wrong and I gave it 3 days(miraculously he was right!-not). Anyway to make a long story short, this happened over and over again until June 2009 when the WAM stayed and never went away. I had a Discectomy in July to repair the herniation that showed up on an MRI. Believe it or not it was my Chiropractor that finally decided to send me for one). I had some very serious problems during the surgery and again I'll shorten it; Surgeon "nicked" Dura Sac, loss of spinal fluid, lightning bolts all over my body, muscle spasm so severe my hamstring disappeared into my butt, ignored by doctor, released after 4 days. Sent to therapy but canceled due to no results. Sent to a Physiologist for further therapy and released by the surgeon because "there was nothing more he could do" and "I should be better by now". My response: That's a true statement, I should.....but I'm not!" I was released.
Present time, I am getting ready to have a Medtonic Neuro-Stimulator Implant put in. I take 650mg of Oxicodone 3 times a day, 150mg of Lyrica 3 times a day. I'm going to be out of a job if this does not work, my wife left me in this state, and my long term disability is being denied due to pre existing condition because I saw a chiropractor 13 months prior to my surgery!
My whole life has been completely ruined by this.
What happens next? Do I just except that I have this problem at 37, file for social security, and live the best I can with career and family in ruins?
