Greetings everyone. I hope the holiday season has blessed you and your families, and that everyone is in (or on the way to) good health.

I am a 27 year old male, living in Houston, TX. About 10 years ago, I suffered a compression fracture in the T11/T12 area. Treatment consisted of bedrest on a simple fulcrum (folded towel under the lower-middle back), followed by light duty (less than 5lbs.) for 6 months.

This treatment had a seemingly positive effect, as I had little to no discomfort afterwards. However, here in the past 5 years or so I have experienced some moderate pain and other difficulties. I will post more about these issues in another thread on a more appropriate forum, but I figured I would at least introduce myself.

I work full time as a systems engineer, working in an office environment. I had been pretty physically active until July when I had a serious "attack" of pain and the other (seemingly) related issues.

I look forward to taking part in the community here and learning more about my conditions.

  • and my husband, who was to be my primary caregiver, fell on Xmas eve and broke 6 ribs and punctured a lung!! I was anxious enough before. I read others posts to try and know what to expect afterwards and, of course, still don't. I'm having an L3 to S1 fusion and decompression surgery.

We are both young early 70's, have been active and healthy. Seeing all this old folks stuff come into the house, grabber, seat risers, shower stool is amusing and disconcerting! We have kids far away, naturally. But lots of friends and neighbors to help so I'm not desperate here, just lauching into the unknown and it's scary. I try to think of it as an adventure but good luck with that!!

    More as I'm able..........
