Ok, just had my 5th cervical fusion (posterior) (C7-T1) w/ new hardware from C3 to T2 to replace old hardware done on the 28th of Dec. I got home on Jan. 1st. and since I have been home I have had severe burning pain located at the incision site and across my shoulders. I also have been losing the function of my right arm. It started with not being able to cut my food with a fork and then it progressed to where I can't lift a cup of coffee. I went to see the Dr. and he said that he thought it was quite possible that since I had an extensive amt. of blood loss during surgery (over a litre) that the blood is accumulating at the incision site causing pressure on the nerves. I had to go for a MRI the other day and I'll see the Dr. on 1/12. He said if it is a extensive amt. they will have to open me back up and wash out the blood. I guess my questions would be has anybody experienced this? Is it something that will go away by itself? or Should I be worried about any other complications?
