I am just so saddened and discouraged after reading about everyone's delays and issues with getting approved for SSI disability. I applied in June 2009, got my first denial, and am now waiting to hear back as to their decision (I hired a disability attorney right away in July 2009).
What boggles my mind is...... I know of someone who applied for SSI due to her depression, she was approved immediately. She has quite a varied work background, education, and is very well-qualified to do quite a few jobs. While she has been on SSI disability she goes out and she does do part time jobs and she can do some work. How in the world could she have gotten approved so quickly just like that, when there are people on here who have had surgeries and who can barely walk and yet they they have been denied?! Makes no sense to me. I'm trying to keep my chin up about SSI, it's tough tho.
I am facing eviction from my apartment and cannot pay my bills because I have not been able to work (I have tried to work part time), so I am praying for SSI to come thru. The system really seems screwed up to me.
