Just had acd w/fusion 2 days ago. was told to NOT sit up when going to sleep. However, the flem builds up and comes right back up whenever I lay down to sleep, thus not allowing me to get any sleep at all. Any recommendations?

  • So sorry you're having these issues. What level was your ACDF at? I had mine at C5-6, 6-7, and wasn't given that restriction.

If your surgeon specifically said no sleeping upright, there must be a reason. You should probably give his office a call, and let them know that the phlegm is a problem, and you're not able to sleep. I practically lived in my recliner the first 2 weeks, maybe that's an option for you as well.

Good luck! Let us know how you're doing!
