I am waiting for a call from the Nuerosurgen for a date on my fusion. I am very scared, infact they called my phone the other day and I thought I was going to wreck and hyperventalate at the same time. I answered and told the nurse I would have to call her back. It took me 3 hours to talk myself into returning the call! I sure hope they are able to perscribe a few nerve pills (valium/zanax) for a day or so before the surgery. If they don't my boyfriend will have to hog tie me and carry me to the car to get me to the hospital. But my real issue that I would like some feedback on is this: I am currently taking Oxycodone 7.5 four times a day, along with a couple other non narcotic perscriptions (sulindac & flexeril). My ortho said he would "try" to control my pain level after surgery but that I was taking "quite a bit" of narcotics now. He said that would cause a problem with controlling my pain due to my tolerance of the narcotics. So now I am really freaking out! Also, one other thing-my surgery will be done by both a nuerosurgeon and an orthosurgeon. The nuero will take care of the nerve pain and the ortho will do the fusion. I have not read that both a nureo and ortho doing the surgery together from any other spiney on here. Is this uncommon? Did I mention that I am scared to death?
