Epidurals .. what can and can I not take?

I have another one coming up Thursday and they never really make it clear what I can take or not take. They tell me 3 days prior I can not take advil, aleeve or motrin but I can take tylenol. Honestly tylenol is not an anti-inflammatory so while my usual 1 advil cap can get me just through the day tylenol can not.

Can I take sodium diclofenic? I have them and they can be better than the one dose of tylenol

  • JS...I've never had an Epidural but I would call your doctor's office back and ask them.

If they said no advil/motrin, you need to avoid any anti-inflammatory as they are blood thinners. For example, for my surgery I was also told to stay away from some herbal supplements that contained willow root, garlic supplements, and a few other things.
