Hello, can anyone one please answer this question directly?

I ask this because I am considering having this done. I will see my Dr. next month and before I ask him about this, I would love having facts before hand. I however searched this entire site and found nothing that I am looking for.

  • Hi Wiata' I had L4L5 Fusion in 2006 but previous to that i had adr put in L4L5.My hardware from my fusion was taken out this december and its realy not bad at all. I was going to have another surgery anyway a lami on L3L4L4L5 so for this reason i asked the dr if it might be a good idea to remove it while he is in there anyway. He asked me to go to my pain dr and have a hardware block, just to confirm that the hardware is actualy also causing some pain, which in my case it was ading to my pain. If this surgery is to remove the hardware only, i would recomend you have a hardware block before you decide to just do surgery just for that reason. Some people have no problem with hardware in it seems, for some it ads more pain. My hardware was taken out and also had the lami done, 1 night stay in the hospital and it was not too bad, compaired to the fusion when i had it. I got a litle releif having the hardware out but not enough, for it seems i have nerve damage from adr surgery that cant be resolved. As i said earlier, if this is only for hardware removal, please make sure you have a hardware block done before you do it,for most dr's fail to mention this can be done to see if the hardware is actualy causing any issues at all. Good luck to ya. Sincerely Yours; Alexhurting
