Pig Patch - Herniated Disc

A doctor friend of mine told me that within a couple years there is going to be a "pig patch" to deal with herniated discs. Presumably, the material to be wrapped around the herniated disc will come from a pig. Has anyone ever heard of this???? I have an 8mm herniated disc in my L5-S1 area and I do not want to have disc replacement surgery (although it seems like every day I get closer to breaking down and having the surgery).
