chronic fatty marrow

Got a new MRI on my lumbar got some issues with L5-S1 for the past 8yrs. But my question is and I have never seen this listed on a MRI repot is chronic fatty marrow? It's mentioned twice 1. DDD at L5-S1 level with chronic fatty marrow changes and mild posterior osteophyte formation..2..Moderately Advanced DDD with disc space narrowing and adjacent chronic fatty marrow changes in the adjacent vertebral endplates indicative of chronicity of this lesion. OK anyone can tell me the English form of this the marrow has me worried when you think of marrow you think of bone marrow and then it leads to....cancer....I have had an issue with a knot the size of a cut in half golf ball on the shoulder blade on left side since Dec.09 Had my ACDF C5-6 in Aug 09 things were going great up to Dec when my shoulder blade started hurting. Chalked it up to be some tension issues with holidays but this place is still there. Will be seeing a ortho for shoulders (only) in June but makes you wonder. If anyone else has had this fatty marrow issue please let me know. Thanks
