Found this site the other day doing a web search and am super duper happy. I have chronic pain along with a laundry list of other symptoms which are listed in my signature. On pain meds daily as well as anti anxiety meds and just applied for SS disabilaty. All very new to me since my diagnosis is not yet a year old.

Hope to make some friends and find some answers.

  • You've found a great place to make friends who understand what you are going through and a great place to get more info. If you feel comfortable share more about yourself and how you got to this point. Also what you are doing other than meds to control pain.
  • I have no injury that I can ever recall that set off the symptoms. I do know that it is genetics in part as a lot of family memebers on my fathers side have issues with there back.

Besides meds there is little right now they are doing for it. I am in the process of seeking a specialist, the only doc I see is my family doctor. Having medicad its hard to find someone to treat me. The family doc I see once a month just does his assements and keeps track for me so that once I find a specialist he/she will know whats going on. He does not want me trying massage or therapy or anything like that due to the instability of the degeneration.

The meds I am currently taking are Ultram ER, Flexeril, Darvocet and Ativan. I am making a list of new meds to slowly start switching out as I have been on some of them for a while now and am becoming tolerant.
  • hi and welcome to the forum! :H we are here to offer you support and answer what questions we can. i do believe genetics can play a big part in alot of serious problems. backs included!!! my sister has had back surgery in the same place i had mine. my mother and i have hip problems in the same hip.. i am so glad you stopped by and you will make as many friends as you want to!!! stop by anytime and please make yourself at home!! by the way, teaching hospitals are a good place to try for treatment if you find you need some more care..money is not an issue!! good luck to you!
