I actually left a doctor's office feeling as though I were a person of worth, instead of feeling like a drug seeker or a chronic complainer. I was given a trigger point injection, and for about 2 1/2 hours now my neck has not hurt. I didnt feel that I was inappropriately asking for help (which has been the case in the past few weeks) and the ortho actually apologized that I had to come back today. It has been a LONG time since I had a positive experience with a doctor, and although I know this is only a temporary relief situation just a little bit of comfort is such a joy. Thank you for your encouraging words in the past couple of days. That means the entire world, spiney friends.

  • Im o glad to see that you were able to get what you needed, and hopefully some real relief too! I'm dreading (b/c of the same reasons that you posted about your prior experiences w/ your Ortho. Doc) to see mine on the 13th. I truley have pain, but so far I haven't felt like anyone can understand what Im going through....
  • Its wonderful to hear of good experiences. There are some good ones out there. :)
  • Good for you Jane! Those trigger point injections are great for me for a few hours!! I'm glad you had a good experience with a new Dr. There's no reason to be made to feel badly!!
  • Glad to hear that you had a positive doc experience. I saw my PM doc for the second time and I was a nervous wreck. I was worried that my pain increase would continue from a med change I had at my first visit. I just really tried to be very honest with where my pain was and with the support of my husband they got it. I hate worrying so much about doctors appointments it shouldn't have to be that way, darn it!! It is refreshing to have a good experience I hope it continues for both of us!!

Barb-Do you have a pain management doctor?? If you do not it might be a thing to consider. I have been dealing with pain issues for 17 years off an on. Unfortunately I am at continuous on right now but the best thing I have done so far is get a PM doctor. I have had a great experience with someone actually understanding pain and putting me on a path that I can survive. If you are having trouble getting your pain managed it might be worth a shot.

Trasee-Just got to say I love your signature. It is so true for many people. Hopefully the light comes back on...
  • Thank you for this thread. I have had problems with doctors in the past, so I have simply stopped going to any but my pcp. I just can't bring myself to do it and feel so degraded again. But I know that I am going to have to see someone about the pain sometime soon and threads like this make me see that there is hope for a decent doctor-patient relationship to exist. Thanks and I am very glad you have had a positive experience!
  • I'm so glad you were treated humanely and more than anything that the injection is helping your pain. I hope the relief lasts and eventually you will feel much better. Being in pain is hell enough without having people not believe you.

    Big hugs and best wishes,
