Well, after a 3 month break from work (again), I'm going back in 2 weeks! The last job I was in was just too much for me, both emotionally and physically, in that the stress was taking too much of a toll on my body. I was supervising the office that gets the people in our regiment administratively ready to go overseas on tour, mostly Afghanistan the past few years, but we send people to places all over the world. My regiment is the biggest, and busiest in the Canadian Forces, as they support all elements (army, navy and air) for communications and IT support. So it was a very busy job, and having ptsd myself from my deployments and tours, not the best mentally for me. So a couple of months ago I decided I really need to step away and reload mentally and physically.
Anyways, I've been meeting with different units on my base the past couple of weeks, and have found a suitable place to work until my medical release goes through. I'm going to be the administrative assistant for a CF radio station! And, my new supervisor ensured me that the hours are very flexible as the work load is actually pretty light, but there is potential to get involved with other projects as well! I'm pretty stoked about it, it's such a huge relief. My only problem is that I'm afraid I'll be spoiled for when I get released and have to start working in the civilian world, lol, especially after 18 years of military life. I start work in two weeks, I guess I'll have to start setting my alarm clock to get used to that, as my best (and mostly only) sleep is between 4-8 in the morning, and it usually takes me a good part of an hour to stretch to be able to get going, and of course get a coffee down, lol.
Anyways, I'm just pretty excited and wanted to share my news. Hope you're all having as good a day as you can have!
