  • Sorry to hear but hope your migraines are better now. I started taking maxalt sublingual wafer and helped my migraine. I get aura & lights usually and numb teeth, fingers. Have you had a referral to a Neurologist or had CT or MRI done yet? I had a CT head after a bad migraine and dizziness when I when to ER. I have C6-C7 nerve impinging and arm numbness and pain don't know if migraines could be triggered by my neck issues but know my hormones may be causing them. Hope you feel better. Charry

  • I hope it is under control now. If you don't know Topomax/Topimate doesn't stop migraine but should lessen the frequency of migraine.

I take topomax as well. I only take it 100 mg at night my sister takes alot more than me. She also has cervical issues. Mine are thought to be brought on from cervical problems. My PT thinks the spasms cich down on a specific nerve and cause occipital migraines.

The ACDF didn't help since I still have spasms daily. The topomaz helps. Instead of having them daily I am down to 1-2 every other week or so. Migraine medication did nothing for me btw.

I also use ice packs on the base of my skull when I feel one coming on. Once it is full blown I put over the top of my head.

    Feel better,

  • Hi, sorry to hear this. I too went thru a period of having severe and frequent migraines and they seemed to be related to my cervical disc disease. My fingers would go numb and fingers would turn into a claw and I was unable to move it...they would always correlate with my migraines at that time. I also had an mri on my brain and nothing bad was found...had seizure study done...nothing. So, they just felt the migraines are secondary to my cervical issues (I do have right arm/hand radiculopothy). I also take topamax to hope decrease the frequency of the migraines and i take Relpax when I start feeling one come on. They 'usually' work. i've been to the ER twice with horrid migraines...both times I had pupil changes...once had a CT scan that was fine. They don't know why. It's frustrating though. And I hate going to go to the ER with a headache...they always put you to the bottom of the list b/c it's just a headache and they feel some are 'drug seeking'. it's so sad...if anyone's ever had a migraine, they wouldn't think that way. The same way if ohters could walk in our shoes (spiney problems) they'd think differently of us.

    hope you get some help.
  • I have had a headache for over a year, the day just depends on how bad the headache is, and I do get migraines frequently (on average, at least once a week). I've been told it is due to my cervical problems, and I do have nerve damage and Horner's syndrome (which affects the sympathetic nervous system, and causes my eye to droop). They gave me Imitrex to help with the migraines, you only take it when you feel one coming on, and I've found it to help really well. There have been a couple of times that I haven't caught it on time, but if I do, it does wonders for me.

  • i'd like to thank all of you for the info i do have some nerve inpingment, also had a ct scan done of my brain showed nothing,my dr suggested a cosult with a neurologist, just went for some blood work, see what is up with that,dr appt next week. also use ice when migraine comes and does not touch the pain. keeping my fingers crossed not to get another -- yhank's a bunch.. michelle
  • If the doctor cannot answer some of your question, then dont stick into its advice, you should consider two brains or in other words, get more advice from another doctor. Migraine is not easy to handle, its a huge pain.
