Voltaren Gel

Does anyone else use this for nerve pain? It's been a life saver for me. I've tried most of the pain pills, Lyrica, and nothing worked at all. I started using the Voltaren gel when I was misdiagnosed with Fibromyalgia and it helped putting it directly where the pain was happening. Then I found the real problem (cervical stenosis) on a recent MRI and when I apply the Voltaren Gel directly over the C5-6 area that was affected it takes away most of the other areas of reffered pain in my shoulder and arm. It's worked great for me so far and just wanted to share some info since I don't see much posted about it.

Anyone else using this? Has it helped?

  • I got it from the physiatrist. I didn't get any relief on the nerve pain but it was a life saver when I fell. I put it on my wrist and elbow and it helped to numb the area.
  • I have used voltaren gel, but not for my spine issues. I was prescribed it for knee issues, and it did help but for now I can't use it due to being under fusion. I tried it on my neck and the nerve damage in my arms and didn't get anything out of it. But if it works for you keep using it. It is a anti-inflammatory which should give you some hope if it is helping.
  • Loved it when tore the LCL and Miniscus in my knee. I get minimal relief on my back though.
  • I used it on my low back and it didn't help but it did work with an elbow problem.
    C3-4-5 fusion 2005
    C-5-T-1 disk bulged
L-4-5 bulge to the right, with Microdiscectomy, failed
    L5- Bi-Lateral bulge
Pain in right foot -loss of feeling
Left butt, hip and front thigh pain with bad shooting pain into inside ankle sometimes
  • I get samples of it from work so thankfully I don't have to pay for it. It doesn't help my chronic neck and back pain. But on occasion I'll get acute, nerve pain in my forearms, particularly after gardening and if I use it at night before bed along with my wrist splints (I have carpal tunnel as well) then it really does help. I was pleasantly surprised. Can't say that it helped enough that I would pay for it, but since I get it for free I'll keep using it.
  • During the day I put 2 lidoderm patches on my low back and voltaren gel on my hips. At night I put the gel on my back and hips and it does help most of the time except when in a terrible fibro flare along with all the other stuff. But if you are using the voltaren gel, you can't take an oral anti-inflammatory or you will overdose. But since I have had side effects from every anti-inflammatory I took, that is okay with me.
