I've heard from DegenerativeShelly and she wanted me to post a message for her since her computer is out of commission with a virus.

Shelly got home from the hospital yesterday from having the new SCS implanted. She says to tell you all that she is okay. She didn't elaborate because she was at a neighbor's house using their computer and I can only imagine she was in a lot of pain just trying to manage even a short note!

She says to let everyone know she will post again as soon as they can afford to get their computer fixed. We will just have to wait and pray that the SCS works better for her this time and that overall she is in less pain.

  • for letting us know this news of Shelly.

How selfless of her to get to her neighbours to get a message to let us know that she is home and okay, despite her pain. That speaks volumes of how much she values our support.

Please, if you speak to her, let her know that we are thinking of her (and praying) and really hope that this time she will get great relief.

Shelly, when you read this, we are rooting for you! :H >:D< =D>

    Take good care. :-)
  • God's speed be with all. I've tried sending a message several times and loose it.

So I apologize if it went thru several times.

    Take care..
  • I prey this works for Shelly.
    She has suffered enough.

    Sending you hugs Shelly.

    Cheers :H

  • >:D< >:D< >:D< >:D< Firstly, words cannot express the thoughts and kind words of support from you all..It has brought me to tears to know I have the support of so many even though I live in another country..
I have a virus in my computer and my neighbour has so kindly lent me her laptop for the weekend so I wanted to give you an update while I can..
I went in to hospital for the trial last Sunday and didn't get home till Wednesday evening.I had severe low blood pressure to the point were they tilted the bed up from the feet end and felt like I was sleeping on my head and had to have my blood pressure every 15 minutes.Something around 70 over 40.!!!
They placed 2 trial SCS's in my thoracic with a total of 4 leads to each spot...And it gave me relief to the point that the pain was bearable..
They took the leads back out on Wednesday and I sure need them back now as I'm in so much pain.
What my specialist is going to do is place one SCS in my Lumbar and 2 in my Thoracic and this is scheduled for the 23rd of January but he is going to try and make it before Christmas for me.
Thank you all so much once again for your ongoing friendship despite all the problems each of you go thru yourselves..
    Shelly.xx >:D< >:D<
  • Thanks for the update and so glad to hear the trial has worked for you! Three SCSs seems like a lot but you've had to get over 16 injections last year so you're so deserving to get some final pain relief. I hope you get in before January. Thanks Linda(Inch) for posting this thread. Take care. >:D< Charry

  • You have had a challenging week. Hope the SCS works beautifully for you, and that your struggles this week pay off.

    Good luck,

  • It is so good to hear that the SCSs helped you.

It must be horrid to have to have them removed again, once you know that they work.

I hope they manage to bring the date forward from January.

Rest and take good care of yourself :-) >:D<
  • You are going to be the bionic woman! I'm glad to hear that the trial worked for you and hope them can get you back in as soon as possible.

  • I see my Pain Specialist on Tuesday to confirm the date for the 3 SCS's to be put in..Before the trial it was to be the 23rd of January, but he said he was going to try and do it before Christmas as its a 4 hour operation and he will do the op on a day when there are no others....

Thanks to all my dear friends for their continuing support as Ive been going thru hell the past month.
  • he can do it before xmas for you, fingers crossed
hey, shelly are you in australia, if so , which part

    take care

  • I've just answered your PM. :-)

I am so sorry that the last month has been so difficult for you. :S

It will be great if your doctor can schedule for this side of Christmas. It will mean for a very quiet Christmas, but at least then you will be on the way, healing wise.

Take is easy, my friend. >:D< >:D< >:D<
  • I too will have my fingers crossed for you to have it done before Christmas, so that you can start your journey towards pain relief.
    >:D< Karen

oops sorry...just realized I crossed them on earlier post (Nov. 21st)...lyrica moment. Anyway Shelly...they are still crossed :D

  • Oh Shelly....that is WONDERFUL!!! WooHoo!!!

I am sorry that you have to wait but wouldnt that be the BEST X-mas present that you could ever receive??:):)

I will keep praying for you....stay strong woman!!!
  • Hope you can get this done for you this month. It is hard to deal with pain, waiting for something you know will make it better! Good Luck!
  • I cant thank you all enough for your ongoing words of encouragement and support.
I will be sure to post the outcome of the Specialist visit on Tuesday..

Love and softest Hugs to all my "Spiney Mates" (Thats the Aussie version of friend)..LOL
  • Had the Specialist appointment today and it cant be done till January and that's only the thoracic 2 and then on the 23rd of February he is doing the lumbar one..He says its too much on my body to have me under anaesthetic for so long in my condition and Cameron and I fully agreed with him..I'm comfortable with his decision's and in the meantime he has increased me to Oxycontin 30mgs, 3 times a day to help me get some relief.

Im a bit down about it so I will post more later..
  • I was up very early this morning thinking of you dear friend.
When I was waiting for my permanent pain pump implant someone told me the time would fly by and I thought...."I know they mean well and want to help but the time was crawling by"! They had to postpone my appointment twice!! I was devistated!! I will not tell you that the time will fly by but hopefully the stronger pain meds will help.
It's been a roller coaster ride hasn't it and not a fun one.
Soon we will be singing...Happy days are here again for Shelly!!!
Hang on ...relief is on it's way!
A very gentle hug for you.
    Patsy W
  • that is disapointing, i so hope the increase in pain meds will see you through
try doing something that gives you pleasure, a nice meal perhaps, treat yourself, a dvd, floating in the pool, some feel good activity

  • I agree with flower to try and arrange somethings that you can and enjoy doing to pass the time and to have some things to look forward to.

I hope that you get some good relief from the new pain meds.

Hopefully 2011 is going to be a good year for you and will get you into a position where you can get back to your life without so much pain.

In the meantime, you have a lot of friends here who care and wish they could wave a magic wand and make the pain go away. 8> (if only!)

I hope that you will have a good, if quiet Christmas. Can you find a nice warm water pool to float in? People can bring your Christmas dinner to you floating on a tray. :-)

    >:D< >:D< >:D<

  • What a disappointment having to wait until next year, but with the holiday season, the time might pass a little quicker.

I see you're having heaps of rain. We're still in drought over here in the West.
