Burning in spine from neck down

gfsuehggfsueh Posts: 1
In the last 3 month, I have been having strange back pain. I was taking Paxil and started having seizure-like jerking and burning sensation from my neck upward into the back of my brain. I am now off Paxil for about 5-6 weeks. Now the burning starts at my neck, goes down my spinal column, and splits off down my legs ending in my knees.

Any ideas what this could be? I've thought about Sciatica. Also, asked neurologistg about seizures, Parkinsons, Alzheimer's. Etc.

Thought about herniated disc, but wouldn't that be down below the waist only? Any other ideas?

  • Hi Sue,

Welcome to spine-health have a look around. The symptoms you are describing are somewhat broad for anyone here to really be able to say what could be wrong. With that said are you seeing a neurologist? A mri of your spine would find a herniated dics. If you have issues with a herniated disc in your neck it could effect both your legs and the rest of your body depending on the degree of the herniation, say if it was in the cord.

Just thought I would stop by and welcome you to spine-health. Keep us posted on what the doctor says.

As Tamtam described, it is very difficult to even make a suggestion about whats going on. Have you had diagnostic tests done (ie MRI, X-Rays, EMG, etc) These are just some of the tests that can be done in isolating the problem.

We can only provide some insight based on our personal experiences, you should discuss your situation with your doctors....

Meanwhile, take a look at Spine-Healths major topic area Conditions
