Hi new family... Of folks that understands my pain. Lol. With it hurting so bad ..And its not even funny. Would it make better since to just have the surgery than to go back and forth getting injections. Someone hit the back of my truck while I'm in it parked. One year ago, still no relief. I'm 37 years old, I really don't want to look forward to many years of injections. although its scary to think about metal being put in my neck what a PLATE. What do i do???

  • First let me say welcome to spine-health. Have a look around and you will find many here whom have had both conservative and surgery for cervical spine issues. With that being said what is the diagnoses of your neck? What specific levels are involved? I take it you have already done a injection and if so what type was it and how long did it offer you relief?

In my opinion surgery should be a last resort and all conservative treatments should be tried. There are many whom have come here and had a injection and were off and doing fine. They just don't hang around long as they are out and about with normal busy living.

What type of surgery did a surgeon suggest as the surgery option? What did they say your prognoses was with or without surgery? Keep in mind surgery is no magic bullet and can make you actually worse or not even solve the issue of pain.

What are the current symptoms your having and how do they affect your life? Are you taking any other medications? Besides injections whatever conservative treatments have you tried? I ask all these questions as someone whom has had surgery and had a run of bum luck and now 6 surgeries latter still have pain. I don't like to scare members but it is the risk associated with the surgery. But there are other members who have done wonderful with surgery and are doing fine.

Just thought I would stop by and welcome you to spine-health. Look forward to reading more of your post and if there is anything I can do for you don't hesitate to pm me. Take care.
