2 week post op appointment

Had my 2 week post op apt today. Everything looks great. Xray shows screws and rods are in place where they should be. I have leg pain that is worse than it was before surgery. Dr thinks it is just inflammed so I'm on a steriod for a week to see if that helps. If its not gone by week 6 then he will scan to see if there is something else causing the pain.
I got my back brace and bone stimulator today. The brace is quite uncomfortable. It rubs right on my incision on my back. I'm sure it just takes time to get use to it.
I dont have to go back to the dr until April (unless my leg keeps hurting), which surprises me. I figured I'd need to go back sooner. He didn't prescribe any physical therapy. I also found this strange. I have a friend who had the same surgery the week before me with the same dr and he started phys therapy last week. Why would one start and not the other? Myabe because his is a work comp case? Whatever the reason, i thought for sure I'd have therapy starting soon.
All in all things are progressing the way they should! Doc said I look amazing for having such a major surgery just two weeks ago!

I did have a chance to read through my chart. I read my last MRI result from last summer. It stated that I had a noticeable herniated bulge at l4-l5 and l5-s1. I wonder why the dr only "fixed" l5-s1. I hope that the other herniation doesn't get any worse. I'd hate to go through this surgery again when it all could have been fixed at once!

  • Good to hear your x-rays were alright and your Dr. says you look amazing after surgery. I'm not sure if the Dr. didn't send you for PT because of the pain you're having? I would call his office and ask if you should be starting Physiotherapy soon. I don't know if it would have anything to do with WC unless they have to okay PT first? Best wises and hope the pain gets under control soon and hope you heal completely. Charry
