Please remove the hot pokers from my skull

cuz that is exactly what it feels like! On both sides of the base of my skull, it feels like someone has inserted a long needle and heated it up!

It comes and goes, but my lord does it hurt. Doctor's suggestion for fixing it...increase my Lyrica to 100mg 3 times a day.

I hope it works! Anyone know what nerves go there? I tried looking it up, but did not succeed.

  • I haven't had neck surgery but I have had sharp pains in my neck and Lyrica relieved those pains for me and I hope it helps you but may take a few days or so to work but check back with your Dr. if it isn't helping as he may want to adjust your meds. There are a lot of nerves there and muscle also. Take care. Charry

  • I had stopped taking it thinking I could live without it, I was wrong!

I have been easing back into it though because the heavy doses make me sleepy.

I did discuss with the nurse that it makes me hungry and I have gained a good bit of weight from it. If it continues, she said to talk to my dr. and see if there is another medication I can take.

I like the effect of Lyrica, just not the side effects!

  • I get it at the base of my skull, right by the ears. Mine can be inflamed and tender to the touch. It comes and goes in it's severity. On a good day...I don't have it! When I do, I am constantly rubbing/massaging my neck area.
