Numb arm while walking

I have cervical issues C5-C7 last x-ray showed impingement at C7. I usually have elbow pain and mild numbness in hand. I went for a walk and my arm is numb and painful if that makes sense at the same time while swinging my arm, in other hand is my cane. I have to walk with my hand in my pocket to stop the pain. Anyone have this issue? Thanks.

  • I have had, in the past, aching pain in my arms while out walking. I used to bend my arm across my chest, and that seemed to ease it.
Reading your post, and remembering that symptom, reminds me that I haven't had it in a while. Thanks for that! :-) It is nice to feel that something at least is improving.

I hope that yours improves too. >:D<

It used to be the only way I could stop my arm pain was to have my arm over my head. Thank god I no longer have that problem.

  • How great that you no longer have that problem.
Were all your surgeries at different levels, or were some of them revision?

At night, I too often have to put my arms over my head to try to ease the pain in them.

  • My left hand always has pins & needles in it, and I notice that I never let my arm (or hand) dangle because it hurts my shoulder.

  • Charry,

I gather the pain at the elbow is on the outer side? That would be C7, and the C8 would be on the Ulnar side. As for your arm going numb when you walk, that's probably due to your head position when you walk. Have you tried moving your head to see if it gets worse or subsides?

That use to help me, and like others, smoothly raising my arm behind my head seemed to help a bit.
