3 months out Posterior Cervical Foraminotomy?

I am about 3 months out from my surgery. It was for the C7 Nerve root.

The surgery itself went well, and I had a good surgeon. However, after about 3 months I am still suffering from the exact same cervical radiculapathy I was experiencing in the first place. I still have dysfunction/pain running from neck down my scapula. I had huge "knots" in my upper back prior to surgery and they still don't feel any better. I don't know if it is the knots or the pinched nerve.

I unfortunately think the surgery has not done anything for me.

Any one else have a similar experience with this surgery?

Thanks for your time.

  • I was wondering if anyone who had this surgery felt relief by the 3 month mark?

    Thanks again....
  • Hi Kinney

I had surgery 18 months ago on T1/2. They removed an osteophyte that was pressing on the T2 nerve root. Unfortunately within 5 months it had grown back... Plus i had other damage from the surgery as well as the muscle knots.

What worked best was a PT who did deep massage to ease the knots. Posterior surgery is harder on the muscles but good in many other ways.

Have you done any PT? Also have they done any post-op imaging? Three months is a bit soon but if you are having alot of problems it might be a good idea.
