Pain and Digestion

edited 06/11/2012 - 8:56 AM in Spinal Stenosis
Today is Monday Labor day. I have not been able to eat because of indigestion. I can drink a bit of green tea w/ Morrocan spices. My biology book shows the organs that are affected by L4-L5 herniation. I also had spinal stenosis and SI disfunction. I was able to take pain medication after I took the Zegerid. I was lying down watching TV, but the noise aggravated the pain. That was an hr ago. Throbbing in legs, and numbness in feet has diminished to a degree.

  • I'm n enough discomfort. I don't need foolish advice. It's October. I have gotten a grip on how 2 use medications & alternatives. I am going 2 gym, but I am still fat. I burn 400-600 calories most days(5).I have this belly of inflammation, digestion no problem @ this time, no dieting, which I may need 2 adjust. I am going 2 Mayo Clinic n December for expert opinion of neurosurgeon. My diagnosis; spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis, & I have an existing L4-L5 herniation from years of running. As for diet, if I fail 2 plan, I plan 2 fail.I can do light weights,& some yoga poses. MUST use ice after workouts, & stretch. I just want the chronic pain 2 be removed. I want 2 avoid surgery. From what I read I should learn 2 manage pain better or live w/ it.

...with the Mayo Clinic. I would be interested in how they say you are doing..if you wouldn't mind.

It's never a bad thing to have new eyes checking out the situation..and hopefully alleviate or the very least get pain under control.

    Best of luck to you!

  • By appointment time, I had decided I could not let myself be made disabled when I am doing better each day. Neurosurgeon @ clinic heard me & explained it would be elective surgery @ this time. I was advised of all the risk, which @ this time is just not worth it. My pain is controlled w/ less meds, more exercise, stretching, turmeric & host of supplements. Must loose excess weight I have gained by adding weight training 2 regime. I know I have back vulnerability, & I am 60+ yrs.

...neurosurgeon agreed with the decision you had come to on your own. It helps when they agree and understand.

And I'm glad it sounds like you're pain is most part controlled. That's great!

The losing weight and healthy living is an everyday process to think of for most of us so you not alone there. :)

    I wish you very best!
