Wow it has been a while since I have posted in here. I will give u a little recap of what I have done and then what is going on now. In 2007 I was hurt at work, was told that i had sprained and strained my back. After a few months it never got better and was seeing a back specialist. Then a surgeon. They were telling me that I has a herniated disk and that I needed to do surgery. So in July of 08 I had a level one fusion L5-S1 with hardware. That only gave me relief for about 3 months and then in Oct of 09 I had the worst pain ever It felt like my back was riping open. It ended up being the hardware tearing my mussels in the back. So we removed the hardware on Dec of 09. Pain is still there and not getting better. I was told that 50% will heal and it be like nothing happened and the other 50% will be in pain forever.
I have not worked much in the last 4 yrs. So now I am doing a little job Cleaning apartments. Nothing different than what I do at home. I try and walk as much as i can and in May of this year tried to jog with my daughter and was in so much pain. Later was told by the doc that I can not run anymore. So we walk 5ks as often as we can or ride our bikes to get exercise.
I thought with the summer here that The pain might go down but it is not. I am now getting these burning pains in my hips, then the pain down the legs to my knees and my ankles and feet are killing me. Pain level for the last 2 years was about a 5 but the last 6 months or so is not a 7. So it is not getting any better, almost getting worse all the time. It takes me 20 just to climb out of bed some days. I am wondering if any one else is having issues like this?
I am just on Lortab 7.5 3 to 4 times a day. not found any other meds to help yet.

  • Cherry are you in pain management? You should check it out of you are not. You could probably use a med change and you should have a new mri pretty soon.

Have you tried any of the extended release meds? Some of them are very good. I started on an extended release morphine (very low level) and had wonderful results but I am allergic (rash & nausea) so now I am taking oxycontin cr which I don't like as well but it work well when taken 3x a day.

Have you spoken with you NS/OS recently? It is a good idea to see them whenever you have a change in symptoms.

As soon as I started getting a lot of numbness/tingling/pain it is time to call and get in. My NS orders some new tests and will do a full exam.

    Hang in there >:D<
