Safest way in and out of a recliner?

Hi! I am 5 days post op of L/4-S/1 PLIF and I'm wondering what is the best way in and out of the recliner. Getting in isn't too bad but getting up is horribly painful as I have to push to get the recliner back in an upright position so I can stand up with my walker. I learned how to log roll in the hospital but didn't learn anything about the safest way to get in and out of the recliner. And since I spend most of the day in it, I thought I'd ask. Thanks in advance for your help!
