Epidural Steroid Shots

I'm considering the epidural shot for my herniated disk pain (lumbar). If anyone knows anything about these shots, like if they are really effective and how long the pain releif lasted please let me know.


  • There are a few different type of shots that can be done by a pain management doctor. If you've tried PT with no success that is often a next step. How much and how long the shots helps varies widely by person. Unfortunately the shots in my lumbar didn't really help, but for quite a while they helped my neck when I got cervical shots until things just got too bad. It depends on the doctor where the procedure is p
    4 level ACDF C4-C7 5-2-11, laminectomy & discectomy L4-L5 1/26/12, ALIF L4-5, L5-S1 12/10/12.
  • I got one after surgery.* It didn't take effect until the 3rd day. By the 7th day, I was pain-free.
