latest second opinion appointment - facet joint OA

Hi all,

I had my follow up appointment with my new surgeon today. The good news is that I have fused at L5S1 and it seems that I have no infection remaining.

The bad news is that I am still in pain! Oh, and tired all the time.

But, he thinks that my L4L5 facet joints, which are pretty eroded, could be the pain generator. He has suggested I try facet joint injections at this level and while he does it he is going to do an esi too.

He couldn't explain the nerve pain I have as he says the scans show no nerve impingement, but from what I read on here that seems to be quite common.

I asked directly if my triedness could be down to depression - I think I am more depressed than I even allow myself to know. Thinking logically my life has become nothing so that is probably it.

Except that I am still having these wierd morning hot flushes. I am going to ask my GP when I go on the 16th if they can check whether maybe I am having early menopause. I know that that can also cause some of my non-pain symptoms.

So, I wondered if anybody else had had foot pain etc as a result of facet joint problems? I know that facet joints are supposed to give "above the knee pain" but I just wondered if other people get both, like I have at the moment.

Anyway, I am going to give these injections a chance - at least then I might have an answer. I go in on 30th April.

We are going to go to the Lake District next week as planned, I might not be able to do anywhere near my normal walks but a change of scene will be good.

Have a good Easter.
