It has been quite a while since I have been on and posted. College and family have consumed me!
Anyhow, a brief update since the last time I’ve posted… I am still seeing a PM doc, same one, and he is still an awesome doc. I am still on the same meds (Fent patch, oxycodone, and flexeril). My pain has yet to get any better and he told me I am headed for my second surgery, but he’s holding off for as long as possible. His exact words were “your spine is in the condition of a 60 year old with DDD,” and I am 32. So, he suggested I try a round of facet joint injections to see if it helps before he sends me off for an MRI and to see my neurosurgeon. I started the injections at the end of January and have had two sets of them so far. I actually got a little short-term relief from them, which was surprising because prior injections did not help.
Okay, so about a week ago I was walking gracefully through my garage and walked over a piece of cardboard that decided it did not like me standing on it, and my legs went right out from under me. I fell directly on my butt, which felt like it had broken, and then onto my back. I was really sore for several days and hoped that’s all it would be, and then I’d be back to my “normal” pain level. Well, that didn’t happen. None of the “new” pain is constant, thank god, but my “new pain consist of periodic sharp pains in my shoulder blades and shooting pain in my upper arms (should to elbow). I have not had numbness or tingling though.
So, after all of my rambling, and knowing this is a dumb question, should I call the doctor or wait it out and see if it gets better since it has only been a week since I fell? I am just dreading it because I know they are going to find something and probably send me packing to the surgeon. UGH!
