I injured my back at work last Feb 2011 and again Nov 2011.
I had my first MRI Jan 5 , 2012 which showed a large paracentral disc extrusion.
My chiro sent me back to work after 2 weeks. My return to work was unsuccessful.
While waiting to see a sports medicine doctor, I was in a car accident and have an increase in back pain and left leg pain, numbness and some weakness. I also get numbness in my right foot and lateral right lower leg at times.
I had a second MRI on April 1/2012. It says that at the L5-S1 level there is a large focal left paracentral disc extrusion. This appears more prominent and continues to displace the left S1 root. Moderate foraminal narrowing is noted related to the extension of this large extruded disc.
I have the excruciating pain described by many of you here. When the pain is dulled by meds, I notice numbness to my left leg/foot that increases quickly when I stand until I lay down on my stomach.
Seeing the NS in 2 days.
.???? Any advice re: questions to ask during this visit?
I am preparing a list of questions to take with me.
