i have DDD of L4/L5 and L5/S1 with sciatica and possible nerve damage. i have a myelogrom on monday 30th april. since then, the pain i usually have has been getting worse and worse with new sciatic pains evolving at more intensity. does anyone have any idea what is going on. i am couch bound and find it so very difficult to walk of even move. i had weakness in my left leg before, now its even weaker and my right heel keeps going numb. this is starting to freak me out. any advice would be greatly appreciated. thank you

Hi Kenny, I had a myelogram with dye last year. And there were no problems.
did you get up right away? That can cause some problems.

  • after the dye was injected, i got up from the bench, into wheelchair, and waited to go into CT room. what kind of problems can it cause? now whenever i stand up, i get a paralizing pain in back muscles and into buttocks and thighs!
  • You sure it was a mylogram not a discogram?

Usualy after mylogram they keep you laying down because of the spinal tap,
If you got up and walked to a ct scan then i have to assume it was a discogram posibly?

Which ever test it was you just have to wait for the results and see where to go from there,

    Best of luck,

  • trust me is what as a myelogram. it was on the letter and the doctor talked me through what it was before he did it. they layed me on the side, injected me with die, then on my front and tipped the table forwards and backwards. it most certainly was not a discogram!
  • The best you can do for now is drink lots of water and eat fruits and green vegetables to balance your ph,

this will increase the oxygen level in your blood to lower the inflamatory levels and stabilize whatever else is happening at the moment....

  • I am very interested what you said.Thank you.
  • I have had a few and have never been put in a wheel chair always a gurney and layed flat in hospital for several hours following the procedures.

I would definitely follow up with your doctor that ordered the meylogram.

    Feel better,
  • the wheelchair was mine, i have to use it as i have severe weakness in my left leg. i went straight from myelogram to CT. i went to my GP yesterday, she said there seems to be no infection, although she couldnt really explain my increased pain. oh well, something else to live with!
  • if anyone wants to read about my Myelogram and everything else that i have had to put up with, not just the NHS, but also the DWP, please read my blog: http://kennysnhsadventure.blogspot.co.uk/
