I am hopeful that you all in this forum can offer me some advice as i am on the verge of a breakdown.
I am a 32 year old woman who has had constant low back pain for the past 2 years. After two rounds of steroid injections by a pain management dr, my dr has said that my pain is coming from my SI Joints. I have had physical therapy to strengthen my core and pelvic floor, two rounds of steroid injections, and denervation on both SI joints. I have tried acupuncture, massage therapy, chiropractic manipulations as well, all to no avail. The physical therapy does help relieve my pain for a few hours, but by the next day i am in intense pain again. Going to work everyday makes me cry by the afternoon as I can hardly move without intense pain.
I started off on Norco 10mg twice a day everyday (which worked well at relieving the pain) but switched to the Butrans 10mcg patch since I was building a tolerance to the Norco. The patch offered relatively little pain relief, if any at all. My doctor just moved me to the 20mcg patch.
I am really hoping some of you can help me with the following questions:
1. Can anyone offer me any advice for a plan for permenant pain relief? I am normally good with injuries- I can put up with the pain and work hard to get myself back on track. But this is like no other pain I have had before, and everything I try to relieve the pain is just money down the drain. I am interested to know if there is anything that has worked for any of you with this condition.
2. Today ws my first day moving from the Butrans 10mcg to the 20mcg. I have felt "drunk" all day. I really never had this "high" feeling from the Norco or the Butrans 10Mcg. Has anyone gone from the Butrans 10 to the 20 and experienced similar effects? Was the feeling temporary, or did it stay like this.
3. Has anyone found success with treating this condition surgically? It seems like everything I read says that back surgeries are often unsuccessful for pain relief and can sometimes make things worse.
Thank you in advance for any info that you can provide. The pain and debilitatiion of this condition has started to make me depressed and a recluse since I can't go anywhere and have fun when I am in constant pain. I would appreciate any advice that can help me to get my life back.
